Dr Romina Madrid is a Senior Lecturer in Educational Leadership at the University of Stirling, where she directs the MSc in Educational Leadership and teaches across related postgraduate programmes. Her research focuses on the role of school leaders and their professional preparation in fostering collaboration within, between, and beyond schools. Drawing on experience in Chile, the USA, Scotland, and the wider UK, Romina's work aims to influence educational policies, professional cultures, and practices that promote equity and improve outcomes for learners. She has an established track record in leadership research, professional learning, sustainability education, and research–practice partnerships, building on doctoral work at the University of Minnesota on family–school relations, school choice, and inequality in Chile.

Romina currently contributes to international projects, including a tri-nation study of system leadership with colleagues in Wales and Ireland, and initiatives on youth climate action, educational equity, and the development of networked learning systems to strengthen leadership capacity in schools. Her research interests span educational leadership, professional learning, school and system improvement, sustainability education, and educational change. Across these areas, Romina maintains a strong commitment to addressing socio-cultural inequalities while supporting leaders to navigate complexity in education.
